This page contains resources we’ve found valuable in planning, organizing, and delivering Baseball Memories programs.
Note: when you click on one of the links below, the selected file will download onto your device. Most of these files are either Word or PowerPoint documents. When you open some of the files, you will get messages asking if you want to edit them and whether or not you want to enable access to external files (links to youtube videos and other media). You should be safe in answering “yes” to both of these messages.
As some pages in many of the presentations contain links to external audio or video files, you will need to have internet access (WIFI or wired network) at run-time when you present them. Also, be sure to “preview” any presentation material you’d like to use – just to make sure all the links are still active.
We’ve captured some thoughts about how to start a program in your community:

We initially received training from our first sponsor – Alzheimer’s Texas. This training includes an overview of dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as background and guidance on conducting reminiscence sessions. Based upon our experiences, we have kept this training updated for use by new volunteers. The training presentations are here:
Baseball-Reminiscence-Volunteer-Training updated
The national Alzheimer’s Association produces annual reports about the disease, statistics, and remedial efforts. Examples follow:
Facts-And-Figures-2024-Executive-Summary
alzheimers-facts-and-figures 2024
The executive summary is a fast read- three pages. The other file is an extensive document about the disease and even includes state-by-state stats – it’s 149 pages long.
DISCLAIMER: All Baseball Memories materials (linked below) have been created by volunteers for the sole purpose of providing reminiscence programming for participants with dementia and their caregivers.
